Day 161- 23 Weeks Old! Happy 4th of July!

Ava's in 45% O2. Her nose is so stuffy that she can't even suck on her pacifier at the same time as she is breathing. The good news is that she doesn't have any mucous in her lungs. We changed her trach today. I have never seen that done before. It's definitely intimidating and plain scary. It's scary trying to take care of a handicapped child. But I know I just want her home. Hopefully she won't be moved into the pediatric unit until mid-August and hopefully she will be able to come home soon after that. It's a long shot, but I'm still hoping...

Praying for Ava to come home...

  1. Ann, it can be very scary, but remember how it was a few months ago...you start to feel more comfortable and confident as you go along. Has your SLP been helpful with info on the trach? She should be able to get you some good info if not :)
