Day 194 - Home vent

Ava's blood gas was 72 this morning after going down to a pressure of 20. They decided to try a home vent (vent that will work at home) around 3pm. Her gas came back 77. They weren't happy with that and lung center already went home so they decided to pull her off the vent. Lung center is who will monitor her lungs when she comes home. They will probably put her back on Monday and tweak the settings. I didn't think the gas was much higher, but they were expecting it to be much lower.

They are now talking that she could possibly come home (the very earliest) the end of the month, but most likely if things go pretty well, a month from now or a month and a half. We are kinda shocked and surprised, but happy. They are on the lookout for nursing already in Genesee County. We just need to get the trach teaching done along with the home vent equipment teaching. We changed the trach today (I did with the help of Anthony) and we need to have at least 2 more other sessions. It went really smooth today, so I am very excited.

Praying for the home vent to work well and for breastfeeding to get better...
