Day 43 - 2lbs!

Ava made it to 2 lbs. 1oz. today! Yeah! Praise God! Ava's O2 was 82 this morning so they gave her albuterol, did a bit of chest therapy and her O2 went down to 62. They were happy with that. She only has blood gasses taken once a day now (in the morning). That is a good sign. She doesn't have to have glucose checks anymore either. She has been satting high and low all day today, but they said that most babies her age/condition do that but they are hoping she wouldn't.

She did have a chest x-ray today. The nurse said that it was better than last weeks. Ava also was given blood because her blood supply is going to expire on Wednesday and they would rather make sure she had enough blood and not have to have another donor (in case she rejects another donor). They may also give her blood on Wednesday so she has an IV in again. They had an easier time putting the IV in because her veins are bigger. I also noticed her cheeks seemed to have gotten bigger. They gave her lasiks (sp?) for the blood and to help reduce the extra water that she has retained. Hopefully she won't lose any weight because of it.

She is going to be checked out by the eye doctor tomorrow, so we are praying for good news in that regard. The nurse said that most likely he will say that her eyes are still immature.

Praying for perfect eyes...
